Show Low Mainstreet Presents the Show Low Rodeo

Join us for the ultimate Show Low Mainstreet experience!

The Show Low Rodeo has been designed to encourage and help form our young Rodeo Contestants to excel and compete in a professional rodeo setting. With a special thanks to Salt River Rodeo Company for putting together a select bunch of livestock that will not only fit a junior rodeo setting but also challenge and encourage our youth to excel.  Come and stay at the Linden Valley Arena for this two-day event.  Offering a chance to win cash prizes and championship buckles. Pre-registration is required for all events. Performances will be held Friday and Saturday evening, with slack on Saturday morning. (No draw-out refunds will be given!) Competitors can expect a fun and family-friendly atmosphere at this annual rodeo celebration.


Individual Event Descriptions:


1. Mutton Busting - $20 per kid (6 and under) enter once. Limit of 10 entries per performance

Info/Description: A fun event where young participants try their hand at riding a sheep out of a bucking chute. Rides will be judged.

Total Pay Out $0 

Buckles: 1 - Highest score over the two nights wins buckle


2. Calf Riding - $40 per kid (7-10 years old) enter once. Limit of 10 entries per performance

Info/Description: A challenging event where kids ride calves in a similar fashion to bull riding for 6 seconds, ride will be judged.

Total Pay Out $800 - 1st$320, 2nd $240, 3rd $160, 4th $80

Buckles: 1 - Highest score over two nights wins buckle


3. Break Away Roping - $40 (10 to 18, ladies only) enter once. Limit of 10 entries Friday performance and 40 in Saturday morning slack

Info/Description: Rope must pass over the calf’s head, pull tight anywhere on the calf and break the string tying the rope to the saddle horn. 

Total Pay Out $800 - 1st$320, 2nd $240, 3rd $160, 4th $80

Buckles: 1- Fastest time wins buckle.


4. Ribbon Roping - $40 per team (Mugger & Roper any age, Runner under 18) enter once.  Limit of 10 entries Friday performance and 40 in Saturday morning slack

Info/Description: Roper ropes the calf, mugger holds the calf and after the calf is caught, the runner grabs the ribbon off of the tail and runs back to the line judge. 

Total Pay Out $800 1st $320 per team 2nd $240 per team 3rd $160 per team 4th$80 per team

Buckles: 3 - Fastest time wins buckles


5. Steer Riding - $60 (11-14 years old) enter once. Limit of 10 entries per performance

Info/Description: Riders ridea  steer with one hand in a bull rope for 8 seconds.

Total Pay Out $800 - 1st $320, 2nd $240, 3rd$160, 4th $80

Buckles: 1 - Highest score over two nights wins buckle


6. Barrel Racing - $40 Four divisions 8 and under (can be lead line, but lead line will not  place over a non-assisted contestant), 9 to 11, 12 to 15, 16 to 18) enter once. Limit of 6 entries each in 8 & under and 12 to 15 Friday performance. Limit of 6 entries each in 9 to 11 and 16 to 18 in Saturday performance and 18 in Saturday morning slack in each age group

Info/Description: Contestants race around 3 barrels in a cloverleaf pattern.  

Total Pay Out $800 in each of the 4 age groups 1st $320, 2nd $240, 3rd $160, 4th$80

Buckles: 4- Fastest time in each age group wins buckle.


7. Parent Offspring Roping - $50 per team enter once. Limit of 10 entries Saturday performance and 40 in Saturday morning slack

Info/Description: Parents,grandparents or legal guardian team up with a direct descendant family under 18 to head and heel a steer. 

Total Pay Out $8001st $320 per team 2nd $240 per team 3rd $160 per team 4th$80 per team 

Buckles: 2 - Fastest time wins buckles


8. Ranch Bronc, Saddle Bronc, and Bareback Riding - $80 (15-18 years old) enter once. Limit of 10 entries per performance

Info/Description: All 3 riding styles will be combined and judged in one event (pick your Style) (Night latches will be allowed in the ranch bronc riding only, but rider may not score as high as those that don’t)Riders must ride for 8 seconds. 

Total Pay Out $800 -1st $320, 2nd $240, 3rd$160, 4th $80

Buckles: 1- Highest score over two nights wins buckle.


9. Hangman’s Race - $40 per team of 2 (15-18 years old) enter once. Limit 10 entries per performance

Info/Description: A Linden Valley Arena new event. This event involves a two-person team on one horse. Horses and riders will start at the top of the arena behind a starting line. At the start all riders will run down the arena to a series of hanging ropes and one rider will grab onto a rope and hang on to it until the other rider rides back to the middle of the arena and around a barrel and back to his partner at which time you will switch places while the second rider rides back to the middle of the arena around the barrel again and back to get their partner on the back of the horse again, and then ride back across the starting line fastest team wins. If a rider or team member falls off their horse or hanging rope at any time they will be disqualified. Event will be given points, first place ten points, second place 9 points etc. thru all qualified runs. Highest point total wins buckle, tie will be broken by a run off

10. Jr Bulls - $80 (15-18 years old) enter once. Limit of 10 entries per performance

Info/Description: Classic bull riding rider must ride for 8 seconds. Event will be judged.

Total Pay Out $800 1st $320, 2nd $240, 3rd$160, 4th $80

Buckles: 1- Highest score over the two nights wins buckle


11. Pee Wee Bronc Bustin - $20 Entry fee (6 and under) enter once. Limit 10 entries per performance

Info/Description: An event for beginners who want to try rough stock riding on a horse type bucking machine pulled by ATV with a saddle and bronc rein on it. Parent can walk along side of bucking machine and hold onto their child if desired. Machine is ground driven and will be pulled as best we can to the rider’s capability in a small circle. Event will be judged.

Buckles: 1 Highest score over two nights wins buckle.
